About

What Scholarship Tally is

Scholarship Tally is a scholarship discovery site that publishes clear, deadline-focused guides for international students. We help you find study abroad scholarships—fully funded and partial—understand eligibility, and hit real application deadlines without the noise.

We are not a scholarship provider. We do not process applications, award funding, or act as an agent for universities or governments. Our job is to research official programmes, explain them in plain language, and point you to the correct portals so you can apply with confidence.

Who runs Scholarship Tally

Scholarship Tally is run by Derrick Ochieng, based in Nairobi, Kenya. Derrick researches and writes the guides on this site and keeps them updated when official pages change. You can read all of his articles on his author page.

Who it’s for

Scholarship Tally is built for international students—especially applicants from Africa and other regions where clear, trustworthy scholarship information can be hard to find. Whether you are targeting a master’s in the UK, an MSc in the Netherlands, a PhD in Germany, or undergraduate awards elsewhere, our guides are written for people who need practical answers:

  • Is this award fully funded or partial?
  • Who is eligible (citizenship, academic level, field)?
  • When is the real deadline in UTC?
  • Where do I apply officially?

If you are comparing programmes like Chevening, university-specific MSc scholarships (for example TU Delft), or national government schemes, you are in the right place.

How we research and verify listings

Every guide starts from official sources: university scholarship pages, government scholarship portals, and foundation programme sites. We check:

  1. Eligibility — citizenship, degree level, language, and academic requirements as stated by the funder.
  2. Funding scope — we label awards as fully funded or partial based on what the official description covers (tuition, stipend, travel, insurance). See our fully funded vs partial guide.
  3. Deadlines — we convert and display closing times in UTC where possible, and note when the source only gives a date without a time zone.
  4. Application path — we link or name the official portal so you never apply through an unofficial third party.

Listings and guides are updated when official pages change. Scholarship cycles shift every year; always confirm details on the funder’s site before you submit.

What we don’t do

  • We are not an application portal. You apply on the university’s or funder’s official system—not on Scholarship Tally.
  • We do not award scholarships or decide who gets funding.
  • We do not guarantee outcomes. Information is for guidance; eligibility and awards remain with the official bodies.
  • We do not charge application fees or ask for payment to “process” your scholarship application. If someone claiming to represent us asks for money, treat it as a scam.

Our mission

Too many international students lose opportunities because deadlines are unclear, “fully funded” is oversold, or unofficial middlemen create confusion. Scholarship Tally exists to cut through that: deadline-aware guides, honest funding labels, and a focus on official sources.

We especially care about applicants from Africa and other Global South regions who are navigating competitive study abroad scholarships with limited local counselling. Clear information should not be a privilege.
