How it works

TL;DR: Browse scholarships by region or study level → read our deadline-focused guides → check the UTC closing time → apply only on the official portal → bookmark or subscribe for updates. Scholarship Tally helps you discover and understand awards; we do not submit applications for you.

1. Browse by region or level

Start from our destination and category hubs. Use study destinations (UK, US, Canada, Germany, China, Japan, and more) or filter by level—undergraduate, master’s, PhD, fellowship, or diploma. See the destinations hub and choosing a study level if you are still deciding.

Each listing or guide highlights whether an award is typically fully funded or partial, who it targets (including international students), and when applications usually close.

2. Read the guide carefully

Our guides are written to answer the questions that actually matter before you invest weeks of work:

  • Citizenship and residency rules
  • Academic level and field of study
  • What “fully funded” covers vs what you still pay (see fully funded vs partial)
  • English test and document requirements (high-level pointers—always confirm on the official page)
  • Interview or nomination steps, if any

Skim the eligibility section first. Many applicants waste time on awards they cannot qualify for.

3. Check deadlines in UTC

Scholarship Tally shows application deadlines in UTC whenever we can verify a time zone. Local “midnight” on a university site may mean a different moment in your city. Before you plan your final upload:

  1. Note the UTC date and time on our guide.
  2. Convert to your local time (see Deadlines and UTC).
  3. Submit at least a day early when possible—portals slow down near closing.

4. Apply on official portals only

Follow the application path named in the guide (university admissions + scholarship form, government portal, or foundation system). Never pay a third party who claims they can “guarantee” a scholarship through Scholarship Tally.

For a general workflow—research, shortlist, documents, essays, references, submit, interviews—use How to apply.

5. Stay updated

Scholarship cycles change: new rounds open, deadlines shift, and eligibility rules get revised. Check back on guides you care about, and confirm every detail on the funder’s official page in the year you apply.
