What the internship covers
According to OIST, support is for the research intern only (not dependents or family) and includes:

Who can apply
OIST states that you are eligible if you are:
- Currently enrolled in the last two years of a bachelor’s degree (or will be in those final two years by the start of the proposed internship), or
- Enrolled in any year of a master’s degree at a university, college, junior college, or vocational school in Japan or overseas, or
- A graduate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree
Your academic background should fit the host unit(s) you select. Currently enrolled students must have approval from their home institution.
Not eligible: current or graduated PhD students. OIST designs this internship for people who need more research experience and who may later apply to the OIST PhD Programme. PhD holders seeking collaboration should look at other OIST opportunities such as workshops or careers pathways.
There is no nationality restriction stated on the official apply page; applicants from Japan and overseas are in scope, subject to the academic rules above.
