The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based award from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation: $20,000 for each of 150 high school seniors selected each year. It is not a full ride, not need-based, and not the same as campus Coca-Cola First Generation grants. Phase 1 is open Monday, 3 August 2026 (after 10 a.m. Eastern) through Wednesday, 30 September 2026 at 5 p.m. Eastern, with no essays, transcript, or recommendations in that first stage.
If you already have the official Apply page open, use this guide to decide whether you are even in the pool before you create a portal account. Facts below were checked against that page and the Foundation FAQ on 24 September 2026. Re-check both URLs on apply day if anything looks updated.
Should you spend an evening on Phase 1?
Answer these four questions honestly. If any answer is no, stop and do not open an account for this cycle.
- Will you graduate high school during the 2026–2027 academic school year, and are you still enrolled (including home school)? Already graduated or on a gap year? You are out for this round.
- Is your school in one of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a select Department of Defense school? U.S. citizens at an American or expat school abroad are not eligible. An Apply-page FAQ question also treats Guam, the Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa as outside this program. The Apply page states the award is funded in part by U.S.-based Coca-Cola Bottlers who serve the listed eligibility areas, and that only students from those areas may be considered.
- Do you already meet a listed status category (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident, Refugee, Asylee, Cuban-Haitian Entrant, or Humanitarian Parolee, matching Federal Student Aid FAFSA items 1 and 2), and can you verify a minimum overall B / 3.0 GPA? Status must be true by the deadline. A pending application does not create eligibility. Only students eligible to apply for federal financial aid may apply.
- Are you planning a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution, and are you outside the Coca-Cola / bottler employee family exclusion (children or grandchildren of current employees, officers, or owners, and of former employees who currently receive retirement benefits from that work)?
If all four are yes, Phase 1 is worth an evening. If not, the portal will not fix the gap.
What this award is (and is not)
This is the Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Selection looks at leadership, academics, and service. The Foundation states it is not needs-based or income-based.
What it is: $20,000 per scholar, 150 scholars per year, used for tuition at an accredited college or university and for other educational expenses the Foundation specifies (examples on the FAQ include on-campus housing, a computer, or textbooks). Scholars have up to 10 years to use the full award and may defer all or part of it inside that window.
What it is not:
- Not a “fully funded” package that covers every college cost by itself.
- Not the Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship. That is campus-awarded aid funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation (a different entity). There is no application for it on this portal; ask each college’s financial aid office whether it receives those funds.
- Not the Goizueta Legacy Scholarship path that the FAQ points Coca-Cola employee families toward via International Scholarship and Tuition Services.
Hard no list
These failure modes sit in the eligibility text and FAQ. Skimming only the hero banner is how people waste an account.
- You already graduated from high school.
- You are a non-traditional or gap-year student who will not graduate during the 2026–2027 academic school year.
- You are a temporary resident.
- You are an international student, except if you attend a select Department of Defense school.
- You are a U.S. citizen attending an American or expat school abroad.
- Your school is outside the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and select Department of Defense schools (confirm territories on the live Apply FAQ).
- You are the child or grandchild of a current Coca-Cola Company / bottling company employee, officer, or owner, or of a former employee who currently receives retirement benefits from that employment.
- Your degree plan is not at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.
- You expect to mail, email, or fax essays or transcripts in Phase 1, or to send “helpful” supplements after submit. The Foundation does not accept those.
How selection actually runs
Process order matters. Do not assemble recommendation packets for 3 August.
- Phase 1 | Online application
Open 3 August 2026 after 10 a.m. Eastern through 30 September 2026 at 5 p.m. Eastern. Portal only. No essays, no transcript, no recommendations.
- Semifinalists
By the end of October, every applicant is notified. About 1% are named Semifinalists (about 1,200) and invited to Phase 2, due in November, with essays, a transcript, and a recommendation.
- Regional Finalists
From those Semifinalists, 250 advance. They interview with Coke Scholar alumni and staff in late January or early February.
- Coke Scholars
150 Regional Finalists are invited in April to the required Coke Scholars Weekend in Atlanta to confirm selection.
How to file Phase 1 without creating extra problems
- Apply only through the Foundation’s portal linked from the Apply page (webportalapp login). No print, mail, fax, or email applications.
- Do not upload extra materials. The Foundation does not accept supplements.
- Home school: eligible if you meet every other rule. For counselor and principal fields, use a home-school collective head, your home-school teacher, or a parent if that matches who would appear on a college application.
- Dual enrollment: mark College Credit / College Course under Course Level.
- Non-school activities: use Community Activities.
- Semester grades with no final: enter the higher of the term grades.
- The form autosaves. The FAQ still recommends clicking Save every 10 to 15 minutes (Save returns you to the homepage).
- Login errors: try Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari; a private window; or clear cache. Then use the site’s support request if needed. The application is unavailable after 5 p.m. Eastern on 30 September 2026.

The Foundation states that only students eligible to apply for federal financial aid are eligible, and points back to the full requirements list. It does not publish a separate DACA yes/no beyond that rule.
My parent works for Coca-Cola or a bottler. What happens?
Children and grandchildren of current employees, officers, or owners (and of former employees on those retirement benefits) are not eligible for this program. The FAQ directs those families to International Scholarship and Tuition Services for Goizueta Legacy information.
What GPA is required?
Minimum overall B / 3.0 in high school coursework.
I already graduated or took a gap year. Can I apply?
No for this cycle. Only current high school students graduating during 2026–2027.
How do Semifinalists, Regional Finalists, and Scholars follow each other?
End of October status notice; about 1% Semifinalists (~1,200) for November Phase 2; 250 Regional Finalists with interviews in late January or early February; 150 invited in April to required Weekend in Atlanta.
Is Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend required?
Yes, for those invited to confirm selection.
How long do Scholars have to use the $20,000?

Is this the same as the Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship?
