Who is competitive on the University’s own factors
You clear the paper gate for consideration if you have applied for and meet entry requirements for a graduate research degree, or you are already enrolled in one.

1. Confirm the degree type
These awards sit on graduate research admissions. A coursework masters is a different funding conversation. If your target course is not graduate research, stop using this guide.
2. Open your faculty’s “How to apply” dates, not a directory card
New applicants are considered through the course application. Closing dates and scholarship rounds are faculty- and course-specific. Some faculties assess in fixed rounds; others accept applications more flexibly but still require you to hit a scholarship round date if you want stipend consideration.
Example only (always re-check the live course page for your commencement year): the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and IT how-to-apply table has published scholarship rounds for 2027 commencement with Round 1 closing 19 July 2026 and Round 2 closing 11 October 2026 (later rounds may be TBC). 3. Build a complete course file before that date

4. Know when you must use the separate Formstack form
